Ina Marx, The Artist

INA MARX

My fascination with ART is embedded in my earliest childhood memories.

It was always clear that to me that I wanted to be an artist.

Nevertheless, well-intentioned adults who tried to co-construct a life plan for me did not consider art as a future and I became a Psychologist. I guess the intention was that the seven years of academic study would take care of this undesirable urge to do fine art.

However, the magnetism of ART has never left my side to this day.

Everything in life strings advantages and disadvantages on the same cord. Psychology therefore lead me to discover various veins of life truths. This was good, since it helped me to work the essence of this dynamic energy.

I wish though that I could say the same about Art! The more I develop, and however hard I pursue artistic expressions, the more I encounter questions and doubts. Mega in fact! No permanent answers really, despite a three-year basis of instruction and guidance I received as hospitate student at the Fine Arts Department, Pretoria University, directly after registering as Psychologist.

Maybe an academic backdrop sets off a fountain of trickster pranks into the global, formal art scene. There is no winning line there! My own mind has opened Pandora's Box. A tsunami of emotions and short-lived answers.
