Ever flowing of LI

A remark on Li and Chi. Food for thought.

In the West we know what ''Chi'' means. Imagine how it felt to discover an added organizing principle. "Li", misty and dreamy.

What is Li: There is a unifying organizational principle within nature. That principle has been resisted by Western science, but the Confucian Chinese "Li" informs us that Nature is a set of organizing principles, rather than Nature seen as “mathematical "laws".

These networks are special in the sense that they are formed

through "preferential attachment". This means that one pattern

will connect to another pattern only if it wants to do so.

Quirky paper weight. My affection in an embroidered object.

It might be a fun birthday present. I embroidered on unbleached and dyed cotton, with a river rock inserted for comfortable handling. An easy weight to keep objects on the table in place, to prevent things from shifting. Such as when working with fabric or stacks of paper on the desktop.

Little bag as organizer for received letters

This fabric bag, can hang on a hook next to the office desk.

Blue ShoppingTote

Some of my embroidery

I use DRAWings 6PRO to digitize the idea that I want to embroider. This covers about anything that I choose to focus on.

My brother Harry introduced me to this wonderful software. Larger than life, Harry is a miracle with the mechanics of hunk like heavy machines, electricity and hard-core building projects. So it came as a charming surprise when he also took to the softer field of fabric and wool. His brain and hands are just magnificent.

I made a blue shopping tote bag with my mandala design in the centre.

Romance and Embroidery

Oh yes, romance and embroidery are interconnected.

Consider this; a woman in love, every so often wants to please him with something that she had created. Since hands are tactile and made to hold things, it is often likened with the symbol of affiliation; as in relationships.

A deeper feeling wants to shape a structure. It just does. Look around and discover that oodles of females are keen to adorn. In my life this urge involves embroidery too. Since it provides me a space for easy meditation.

Was this not always true? In absence of the beloved, she works the needle and colourful threads to talk the female talk.

Zeitgeist fills our countries with its waves of digital expansion. To buy the best smart phone and fabulous camera. Yet embroidery always was and will forever remain. When she embroiders, it is the silent cavern from where her mind can dream. Where her voyage spreads into the future. With yarn and needle, a talk inside her heart to hear her own thoughts. Like to be the stronghold of Baba Jaga's house. Its chicken legs can turn the house to the sunny side at whim. (A Russian Fairy tale.)

In Female World, and this is never conveyed with headlines of mainstream media, she is making things that adorn. This in the heart of a woman in love. A flirting affection. Thus, romance and embroidery are linked in the unspoken truth.

I have experienced both with intense pursue and sheer indulgence. Let our claims to save the world, at least revamp with beauty! Pretty or practical embroidery, just for the permanence of it. Lasting.

This website is for the reverie of both. With Articles on the complexity of needs. Photos of adornment, bits and pieces of embroidery.

Do feel free to share your views as we would love to hear from you.
